On this day in 1942, fighting broke out between Australian and Japanese forces along the Kokoda Track. During the campaign, one of Australia’s greatest pianists, Captain Isador Goodman, composed a work that would echo far beyond the battlefield. 🎼 Goodman's work 'New Guinea Fantasy', which you can hear throughout this video, was composed in Kokoda. It will receive its first public performance in the upcoming 'Greater Love' concert, presented by the Australian War Memorial. 📅 When: 15 August 20
